8 New Coasters in ’08 for Six Flags
The latest new coaster rumors are from an unlikely source. An article written by CNBC’s Jim Cramer from Mad Money on The Street.com is causing quite a buzz. The article titled Recap: Fantasy Football Portfolio deals with analysis of the stock market like his show often does. The snippet of interest to coaster enthusiast is:
“Philly Eagles’ QB Donovan McNabb, or the “comeback player,” is Six Flags (SIX – Cramer’s Take – Stockpickr – Rating). Theismann likes the company’s management and that it’s building eight new roller coasters. Cramer partially agreed, citing past weather problems for the company.”
Let the Speculation Begin!
Eight new rollercoasters for a company that claimed it was going to refocus on families and stop building large, thrilling rollercoasters is quite a surprise. Of the alleged eight new coasters, Six Flags will most likely do some recycling and relocating. There are a few coasters from defunct parks AstroWorld and Six Flags New Orleans (closed due to Katrina flooding) in limbo. I’m sure we’ll see some of those reappear in 2008. So the term new should be used loosely.
Markings commonly seen before ride construction have been spotted at 4) Six Flags Great America (Chicago) and 5) Six Flags St. Louis. And I’ve seen general speculation about 6) Six Flags New England (Springfield, MA), 7)Six Flags Over Texas (Dallas, TX), and 8)Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (San Francisco, CA).
That’s eight parks. Do you have any guesses or even proof of new coasters coming to a Six Flags park? Leave a comment below.
