Comic Book Roller Coasters Tournament – Round 1

Roller Coaster Showdowns

I thought it would be fun to combine two things that I really enjoy, roller coasters and comic book characters. And there are so many super hero and super villian-themed roller coasters that it seemed like a good idea to put them in a March Madness-style tournament and have you pick the winners.

The Set Up

In order to make the list of entrants manageable, here are a few conditions:

  • The tournament includes roller coasters only, not other types of rides.
  • The current theme of the roller coasters had to be related to a super hero or super villain character.
  • The coasters had to be in the United States.
  • The coaster had to already be open. So the new Joker 4D coasters are not included
  • Clones with the same theme count as one. So the Mr. Freeze coasters at Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags Over Texas would be one entry, not two.
  • Lastly, I chose not to include junior roller coasters like Catwoman’s Whip. Mostly just to make the numbers easier to manage.

Founder of CoasterCritic.com. My favorite coasters are B&M hypers and gigas. I'm also a huge fan of terrain roller coasters.

  1. You mentioned clones would count as the same coaster.. Are the Batman and Joker 4D rides not clones ?? What’s the difference ??

    • Good question. I should be more specific. I mean clones of rides that have the same themes.

  3. I am a fan of amusement park rides and I often go to parks to try different kinds of amusement rides, including kiddie rides and thrill rides. However, until now, I am always afraid of the some thrill rides, especially, the giant roller coaster. Though I am a little afraid, I always try my best to conquer the thrilling feeling to ride on them! It is so cool! I really love this game!
