Top 7 Water Rides on The Seasoned Pros List Show

Recently, I reunited with my fellow theme park geeks (Doug from The Season Pass Podcast & Arthur from About Theme Parks) for another edition of The Seasoned Pros List Show. This time we listed our favorite water rides. Also, we were joined by a special guest, Brady MacDonald from the LA Times Funland Blog. As you’ll hear, I don’t have a lot of experience with water rides. I general...

What is a Giga Coaster?

With all of the buzz around Fury 325, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the World’s Tallest and Fastest Giga Coaster. Many have asked exactly what the “giga” refers to. What is a giga coaster? A giga coaster is a roller coaster that’s between 300 and 399 feet tall and completes a full circuit. The first giga coaster was Millennium Force which opened at Cedar ...

The Disneyland Book of Lists Review

Fans of Disneyland will enjoy Chris Strodder’s impressive Disneyland Book of Lists. It includes almost 250 lists about the park from every topic imaginable. There’s enough information in this book to create several seasons of a Disneyland trivia show. I was provided a copy of the book for this review. It’s safe to say if there’s anything you’d want to know about the p...

Yesterday, Carowinds announced that they will be closing Thunder Road. It is one of the few remaining wooden twin track racing roller coasters. Please join us this summer as we say good-bye to this iconic coas...

Fury 325 at Carowinds | Review & Rating

I was fortunate enough to be among the first to ride Fury 325 at Carowinds. Billed as: The World’s Tallest and Fastest Giga Coaster, the massive roller coaster has gained national attention thanks to its ridiculously tall lift hill (325 feet) and unnervingly steep drop (81 degrees). For now, I’ve included a mini-review and overall rating. I’ll be posting a full, more detailed rev...

Test Video of the Ultra-Steep Cannibal at Lagoon

Farmington, Utah amusement park, Lagoon is building a new roller coaster called Cannibal. The $22,000,000 roller coaster will be the park’s biggest yet with a vertical lift enclosed in a building, followed by a shocking 116-degree (beyond vertical) drop. Last week Lagoon posted this video of Cannibal testing:   Post by Lagoon Amusement Park.   Cannibal looks like it’ll be a l...

Where Are You Headed in 2015?

Which theme parks will you be visiting in 2015? It’s always fun to see where people will be traveling to and what new rides might have helped them choose certain parks over others. Visiting Theme Parks Close to Home For me, the list is short. I’ll be visiting my home park, Carowinds for Fury 325. For now, that’s all we’ve planned. It’d be great to take the family to D...

What Other Rides or Coasters Should Be Indoor Like Laff Trakk?

Hersheypark’s new roller coaster Laff Trakk is essentially a spinning wild mouse roller coaster inside of a dark, themed building. The glow in the dark sets look great and it’ll help the park balance its thrill machines (like Skyrush and Fahrenheit) with a family roller coaster, that incorporates some real theming. Check out this video of Laff Trakk at Hersheypark: What Other Rides or ...

With the riders’ hands in the air, they’ll get the sense that they can re...

5 Reasons Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s Tempesto Coaster Has Fans Scratching Their Heads

5 Reasons I’m Scratching My Head at the Tempesto Coaster I’ve been the biggest fan of both Busch Gardens park, but I’ve probably written the most about Busch Gardens Williamsburg than I have of any park. And, 90% or more has been positive. I love nearly everything about my European-themed park with its lush green terrain that its custom, world-class roller coasters take advantage...
