Best of the Blog 2011 – Poll Results
This is the continuation of the Best of the Blog 2011 series. This post will look at poll results from last year. The polls with the most responses were first impression polls where I asked you to give your first impression of new roller coasters that had just been announced. The possible responses were: Amazing, Pretty Good, Just Okay, or Boring. Here are the results:
Wild Eagle
Amazing (79%, 531 Votes)
Pretty Good (17%, 115 Votes)
Just Okay (3%, 19 Votes)
Boring (1%, 6 Votes)
Total Voters: 671
X-Flight
Amazing (79%, 255 Votes)
Pretty Good (15%, 49 Votes)
Just Okay (3%, 9 Votes)
Boring (3%, 9 Votes)
Total Voters: 322
Expectations are high for both of the new wing coasters opening in the States in 2012. Both of them saw 79% of their responses giving them the highest rating, “Amazing”.
SkyRush
Amazing (52%, 220 Votes)
Pretty Good (38%, 162 Votes)
Just Okay (9%, 37 Votes)
Boring (1%, 6 Votes)
Total Voters: 425
Leviathan
Amazing (66%, 281 Votes)
Pretty Good (26%, 109 Votes)
Just Okay (5%, 23 Votes)
Boring (3%, 10 Votes)
Total Voters: 423
Excitement is not quite as high for Leviathan and SkyRush. Still, 90% or more of the responses were either Amazing or Pretty Good. It’s no surprise that Leviathan, B&M’s first Giga coaster, had a higher percentage of Amazing votes than SkyRush.
Verbolten
Pretty Good (41%, 134 Votes)
Amazing (31%, 100 Votes)
Okay (21%, 67 Votes)
Boring (7%, 24 Votes)
Total Voters: 325
There wasn’t a whole lot revealed about Verbolten initially. But, it was enough to give almost 30% of the respondents a reason to vote Verbolten as Okay or Boring. Remember people, Verbolten’s replacing Big Bad Wolf, which was more or less a thrilling family coaster. Still, 72% of you gave Verbolten an Amazing or Pretty Good vote, which isn’t that bad.
Which Coaster Should Get Iron Horse Track Next?
After an incredible experience on the New Texas Giant, I asked you to vote (Yes/No) on which coasters should get a similar treatment. I suggested a few woodies and then asked you for more. It may come as no surprise that Son of Beast and Mean Streak led with 84% and 78% Yes votes respectively.
Not all of you share my disdain for Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghostrider. Or, it gives some pretty uneven rides. It was a stalemate with 51% voting Yes and 49% voting No. Boss at Six Flags St. Louis was in the same boat with 53% Yes and 47% No.
The next two must have been reaches, because around 60% of you voted that Hersheypark’s Wildcat and Kings Dominion’s Grizzly don’t need an Iron Horse track upgrade. I’ve been told that I need to re-ride Wildcat and that it’s much improved. Read the full post here.
Cheetah Hunt Reviews – Poll Results
As I didn’t make it down to Florida last year, I was really interested in how Busch Gardens Tampa’s Cheetah Hunt was being received. 81% of you gave it a 7 (Good) or better.
8 – (Great) (22%, 64 Votes)
9 – (Excellent) (21%, 61 Votes)
10 – (Superior) (20%, 60 Votes)
7 – (Good) (18%, 53 Votes)
1 – (Demolish) (5%, 14 Votes)
5 – (Average) (5%, 14 Votes)
4 – (Below Average) (5%, 14 Votes)
6 – (Above Average) (3%, 9 Votes)
2 – (Horrible) (1%, 4 Votes)
