Diamondback | Kings Island – Kings Mill, Ohio
Diamondback Coaster Coming to Kings IslandDiamondback will be a Bolliger & Mabillard hyper coaster that will offer a high-speed ride with many drops and lots of airtime. Unlike earlier reports that described the new coaster as being 4,200 feet long, Diamondback will be massive at 5,280 feet long (a mile long). Read more about Diamondback.

Ring°Racer | Nurburgring, Germany Ring Racer to be World's Fastest Roller Coaster Ring°Racer at Nurburgring will shatter the current record in 2009. While Six Flags Great Adventure’s Kingda Ka tops out at a blistering 128 mph, Ring°Racer will push the envelope even further with a top speed of 134 mph (217 km/h). More on Ring°Racer.

Carolina Cobra | Carowinds – Charlotte, North Carolina
Carolina Cobra to Strike Carowinds in 2009The roller coaster, formerly Head Spin at Geauga Lake, will be called Carolina Cobra. For a theme park dead center in the middle of the Carolinas, it’s not a bad name. Saw: The Ride | Thorpe Park – Great Britain
Saw - The Ride Coming to Thorpe Park
Thorpe Park’s new roller coaster will be a Gerstlauer Eurofighter themed after the popular horror movie series, Saw. The ride will feature a 100′ climb and a beyond vertical drop of 100 degrees. Prowler | Worlds of Fun – Kansas City, Missouri
Prowler Coming to Worlds of FunWorlds of Fun will unleash a wooden terrain roller coaster in 2009. Prowler will kick off with an 85-foot drop into a ravine. The rest of the ride will closely hug the terrain as it reaches speeds in excess of 50 mph. Read more about Worlds of Fun’s new Prowler.

Both Six Flags New England’s Superman Ride of Steel and Six Flags Great Adventure’s Medusa are getting renovations that include on-board audio, new paint, new trains and possibly new names. Busch Gardens Williamsburg is opening a completely new kids section centered around a kiddie coaster called Grover’s Alpine Express. Mumbo Jumbo improves on Steel Hawg’s design by setting a new drop record with a 110 degree drop. Gravity Group designed China’s first wooden coaster, Fireball at Happy Valley. Ghost Town in the Sky looks to finally reopen their Cliffhanger looping coaster with new lap bar trains. And Six Flags will show their Mexico park some love with a Dark Knight coaster clone similar to the installations that popped up at three U.S. parks in 2008.
