Grizzly @ Kings Dominion | Roller Coaster Reviews

Remember that roller coaster that everyone talked about when you were young? That one ride that was considered a kind of local legend of sorts. These rides were sometimes the focus of juvenile horror stories, myths, and just plain made up stories. The folklore often stemmed from respect and fear of that one wild roller coaster that you just had to conquer. Kings Dominion’s Grizzly was that r...[Read More]

Survey Markers for Carowinds Rumored 2012 Ride

Today Screamscape reported a survey marker sighting at Carowinds for a rumored 2012 ride near Intimidator, but no one had photos. So I went down to the park after work and saw a number of markers in the grassy field next to Intimidator. They have “HUSS GF” written on them which likely means the park is getting a Huss Giant Frisbee ride. I have to imagine the park wasn’t trying to...[Read More]

Actually, I’m in such a silly, sleep deprived mood that I’m going to quote myself here: … it will be a social link sharing site (known as social...[Read More]

Quassy’s Wooden Warrior Opens with Timberliners

Middlebury, Connecticut’s Quassy Amusement Park is now home to another Gravity Group creation. This time out, they’ve reached in their proverbial bag of tricks and produced a family wooden coaster. Perhaps the most interesting thing about Wooden Warrior is that we’re now able to see those potentially game changing timberliner trains in action. I’d love to hear some reviews ...[Read More]

Canobie Lake’s Untamed Is Unleashed | POV Video

New Hampshire’s Canobie Lake Gets a Compact Looper in Untamed Canobie Lake’s new Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter looks like fun. It’s a compact little ride, but from early reviews it sounds like its just the right size for the park. Its rapid fire layout boasts a vertical lift, 97-degree drop, vertical loop, immelmann, and a great looking zero-g roll. I really like the seldom seen dark g...[Read More]

Cheetah Hunt Opens at Busch Gardens – Reviews, Videos & a Poll

Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens Tampa – Early Reviews & a Video My pick for the most anticipated roller coaster of 2011 opened this past weekend. The opening wasn’t as smooth as Busch would have wanted and I’m not referring to how it tracked. According to Tampa Bay Online, Cheetah Hunt was down from 9:30 AM until about 2 PM on opening day due to a sensor malfunction. Thankfully...[Read More]

Superman Krypton Coaster | Roller Coaster Reviews

I’d had my eye on Six Flags Fiesta Texas‘ floorless looper for years. Superman Krypton Coaster looked to have a pretty cool back drop thanks to the park’s rocky cliff walls and a different layout than the other floorless coasters. Plus, Krypton Coaster consistently ranked pretty well in the Internet Coaster Poll. Last month, I finally made it down to San Antonio to take the ride ...[Read More]

Six Flags Great Adventure’s Green Lantern-theme Stand Up Coaster Opens Last week, Great Adventure fans got their first rides on the Green Lantern. Replacing the aging and rough Great American Scream Machine, the B&M stand up was a remarkable ride in its former life as Chang at Kentucky Kingdom. During its transformation the ride received new trains and a fresh, mostly green, paint job. I...[Read More]

Toyota Turns a Prius into a Roller Coaster

You’ve probably seen the Toyota commercial by now that features an interesting ‘What If’. It pontificates: “What if the energy generated from a braking roller coaster was used to power something?” The commercial features the Viper at Six Flags Magic Mountain by the way. Even though I skipped the Arrow looper while I was at the park I identified it right away. Anyway, ...[Read More]

Featured Photo #14 – The Unsung Hero of Your Park’s Coaster Lineup

Step Outside of Your Enthusiast Box For a Moment Are Vekoma’s Boomerang  roller coasters unappreciated? Sure, they’re short shuttle coasters that can get pretty rough, but think of their upside. Think about all of the people who got their first looping experience on one of these theme park staples. There are plenty of smaller parks that can’t afford to build a large looping coast...[Read More]
